Naruto, Code Geass, Fullmetal Alchemist:Brotherhood, Gurren Lagann, Avatar, Death Note, Soul Eater, and Bleach are all pretty good animes to start watching.

My favorite is Code Geass and Naruto though.

Yep. Can +1 with Gurren Lagann and Hunter x Hunter (Althought HxH is REALLY lengthy soooo you will take a while watching it.)

I also suggest Parasyte. It's freaking awesome, action-packed fun. I was skeptical when my brother told me to watch it but I was pleasantly surprised. I don't watch much anime, so I get reluctant when asked to watch stuff.

I am not a anime lover, but if i recommend anime to you that i watched before. It's good as hell.

One Piece < i have been watching this for a year+
Fairytail < Finished it within a month or two, it's way too good..
Hitman reborn < If you watch this, watch the first 10 episode and skip to 30+ because the episodes between 11 to 29 is irrelevant.
Kuruno No Basket season 1 and 2. < THIS IS WAY DAMN GOOD, i finished it within 3 weeks i guess LOL.

Try watching Anime movies like Spirited Away and Howl's Moving Castle
I suggest that you watch Inuyasha and The Black Butler

The only Anime's I have watched are Death Note, Clannad and Amnesia but they are all insanely good. These ones are also better if you're looking for a fairly short anime (Amnesia is 6 episodes, Death note is 31 and Clannad + afterstory is about 40 episodes.)

EXCUSE ME, there are 37 episodes of Death note.
