Confused?

I'm getting a little confused. First, thrones are wiped. I purchased a good amount of them before but I was okay with the wipe because you're trying to get the economy on track. Now, LTD Cata is available to everybody even thought I paid for that too? And now staff applications are available even though people had to pay to become staff before. Is anything going to change now? What's the next step? I would like to know if everything I've purchased is going to be useless in the future. What was the point of me paying for anything if it's just going to be removed or release to everybody? Was it just a scam?
